Rising secures lead role in Rwanda’s LIFT program

Rising Academies has been selected as a technical and implementing partner for Rwanda’s new Learning and Inclusion for Transformation (LIFT) program. Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and led by Cambridge Education, LIFT is a six-year initiative (2024–2030) designed to strengthen Rwanda’s education system and ensure that every child—particularly girls and children with disabilities—can learn and thrive.

Building on three years of strong results from our RisingFaster program in Rwanda where we’ve helped teachers deliver structured, high-quality lessons and significantly improved learning outcomes. Rising has been chosen to scale this work within LIFT. By embedding RisingFaster into the program, we will support thousands more teachers to strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy, while ensuring inclusive approaches that keep girls and children with disabilities learning and progressing.

As one of the program’s specialist resource partners, Rising will bring its experience in structured pedagogy (RisingFaster), teacher support, and learning assessment to improve foundational literacy and numeracy across LIFT-supported primary schools. Over the course of the program, LIFT aims to reach 28,000 out-of-school children. The program currently operates across multiple districts and is planned to scale further. Over 2,000 teachers have been onboarded and trained so far.

Through this partnership, Rising joins a consortium that includes UNICEF, Tetra Tech, and Mott MacDonald, working alongside Rwanda’s Ministry of Education. Together, we aim to generate evidence of what works at scale and build lasting capacity within the system so that all Rwandan children are equipped with the skills they need to thrive.
