Rising signs landmark MoU with City of Kigali
City of Kigali Vice Mayor, Fulgence Dusabimana led the signing ceremony on behalf of the City of Kigali
Rising has signed a new landmark agreement with the City of Kigali to expand RisingFaster, our remedial and catch-up programme for foundational literacy and numeracy.
The three-year, co-funded, MoU between the City and Rising will jointly deliver RisingFaster across 68 additional public and government-aided primary schools in Kigali. This expansion will reach 50,000 learners, with RisingFaster on track to support more than 200,000 students by the end of the academic year.
The City of Kigali selected RisingFaster as a targeted support to schools that underperformed in primary leaving examinations for the past 2-years, as identified by National Examination and School Inspection Authority. This follows RisingFaster delivering three-years of strong validated results in both literacy and numeracy.
Through this collaboration, teachers will receive structured lesson guides, interactive digital professional development and school based coaching as well as enhanced assessment support.
The MoU has also received formal endorsement from the Ministry of Education, the Rwanda Basic Education Board and the National Examination and School Inspection Authority. The City will contribute nearly half of the total program cost, covering the majority of training, printing, and equipment expenses, while Rising provides technical delivery, curriculum design, and program management.
Eric Niyongabo, Education Coordinator in the Ministry of Education under the City of Kigali, said:
“Class performance remains at the heart of transformative education. The partnership with Rising Academies, through the RisingFaster initiative, represents a strategic move to strengthen classroom practices and enhance learning outcomes across target schools. This collaboration reaffirms our shared commitment to ensuring every learner achieves their full potential.”
Fidele Hagenimana, Head of Programs for Rising Academies:
“It’s a proud moment to see RisingFaster identified by the City of Kigali. It has been inspiring to see the strength of the City’s commitment to rapidly improving results, and we are 100% committed to ensuring students in Kigali not only catch up, but move forward with the strong foundational skills they need to thrive in the years ahead.”
Rising’s CEO, Dr Stephanie Dobrowolski, joined Rising Rwanda’s Head of Programs, Fidele Hagenimana at the signing ceremony
