OUR APPROACH

4 out of 5 children and young adolescents in Africa are not mastering the basics.

Millions of children are now in school without developing the foundational literacy and numeracy skills they need. The challenge is no longer only access to education. It is ensuring that children learn once they are in the classroom.

That learning crisis is what Rising exists to help address.

We combine high-quality teaching, practical implementation and evidence to help governments deliver better learning at scale.

  • High-Quality Teaching

We design and adapt evidence-based approaches for real classrooms, including large and mixed-ability settings. From structured curriculum to remedial learning, our tools and materials help teachers deliver effective instruction and build strong foundational skills.

  • Practical Implementation

We work with and through government systems to turn strong approaches into consistent practice. Depending on the partnership, we support delivery through training, coaching, technical assistance and quality assurance, while strengthening the systems needed for sustainable implementation.

  • Evidence & Improvement

We use assessment, implementation data and research to understand what is working, what needs to improve and what is worth scaling. These feedback loops help schools, governments and partners make better decisions and continuously strengthen teaching and learning.

Our Work In Action

Evaluations of our established foundational learning approaches have shown strong learning gains across multiple countries, including Sierra Leone, Liberia and Rwanda.

The film below shows FasterMath in action, and what stronger teaching and learning can look like for students, teachers and communities.

We bring the same focus on evidence and improvement to new approaches and technologies.

Rori, our AI-powered maths tutor, is being tested and refined in real school settings, with evidence guiding how the product and implementation model develop. A major independent evaluation in Ghana is now testing its impact at greater scale.
